This collection represents a truly unique offering, sourced directly from the personal archives of a former CEO of Parker Waterman USA. As such, it presents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire writing instruments with significant historical and developmental value. Notably, the collection includes several prototype pens, providing a rare glimpse into the innovative design processes and experimental craftsmanship inherent in the creation of these iconic brands. These prototypes, all confirmed to be in working order, offer a fascinating perspective on the evolution of pen technology and aesthetics, making this a highly desirable acquisition for discerning collectors and enthusiasts.
Following the sustained success of the Parker 75, Parker sought to introduce new pen lines in the early 1990s. The company commissioned London-based Hollington Associates, led by chief designer Geoff Hollington, to develop these designs, resulting in the Insignia and Sonnet lines.
The Sonnet line was marketed as a precision-crafted, high-performance writing instrument with an ergonomic design. This particular Sonnet pen features a “Lacquer Autumn Red” finish, characterized by a thick, lustrous lacquer that exhibits color variations depending on the light source.
The pen is constructed entirely of steel, providing a substantial weight and balanced feel during writing. Its classic cigar shape offers a simple yet impactful form factor. The cap produces a distinct click upon closure, and posting is smooth, enhancing the pen’s length and balance.
The gold-plated steel nib offers a smooth, medium line width without feeling stiff. This Parker pen is in excellent condition. It includes a Parker converter and is also compatible with standard cartridges.
