Ebonite, a durable material made from natural rubber and sulfur through a chemical heating process, offers a comfortable feel that reduces writing fatigue. These pens are crafted from uniquely marbled ebonite, each piece individually handmade by artisans, ensuring that no two pens are ever exactly alike. These traditional ONOTO-style fountain pens are named “KYOUKA,” inspired by the Japanese idiom “KYOUKASUIGETSU”, which translates to “flower in the mirror and the moon reflected in the water.” This poetic phrase evokes the rarity and elusive beauty of our pens. Every KYOUKA fountain pen undergoes a meticulous, entirely manual creation and polishing process, including shaping on a traditional Japanese lathe, the “Rokuro.”
